Club: Drakula's
Cheyenne, Wyoming

Bands: Once a Hero, Happy Bad Day.

Cheyenne is only a couple hours from Denver, so we had all day to hang out in the city. We started out at a thrift store so Freeman could by a nice cheap jacket. Afterward, we decided to drive to Red Rocks Park. We enjoyed our visit there last year, so we wanted to see it again.

Adam Freeman ponders the beauty of the great American west...

...while Annabelle enjoys the lovely scenery from her parking space.

The Denver Skyline. After Red Rocks, we headed downtown to spend some time in the city and get some lunch.

In Downtown Denver there is a lovely outdoor mall restricted to pedestrians and transit buses. The 16th Street Mall, as it's known, excellent food, shopping, and people watching.

The Colorado Capitol Building.

After some shopping and food, we packed up and headed out to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Wyoming is the least populated of the 50 states, and Cheyenne, the capital and largest city in the state, has only 50,000 people. Here is Club Drakula's, where we played our show. It's basically the inside of a warehouse, and it's overall a really nice setup.

The inside of the club features tour posters, original artwork, and Barney.

We weren't expecting a huge crowd because it was a Wednesday night, but there were a lot of people there. We were pleasantly surprised to see what a supportive scene Cheyenne has. While many indie rock scenes around the country are dying out, and fans only come to see the band they came to see, and then leave, all of the people there really got into our set, and even wanted an encore. We assure you, that's a first for Once a Hero.

We put on a really good show, and we fed off of the energy the crowd was giving us. We really enjoyed playing at Drakula's. It was truly an excellent showspace, with lights to make you feel like you were at a rock show, but small enough to keep the show personal and up close. After us, local band Happy Bad Day rocked out with an equally energetic pop punk set. They seemed rather established on the scene, and did a great job.

After the show we went to the home of JD, who put on the show, ate Wendy's for dinner, and crashed. We have to get up early tomorrow for the long drive to Salt Lake City. See you next time, Cheyenne!
