No Excuses
Denver, Colorado

Bands: Once a Hero, Misplaced.

Here's how much time is spent in Annabelle- eating, using the computer, reading, watching movies, etc. After a restful night and a fantastic brunch cooked by Doug's grandmother, we set out to drive across Kansas and Colorado on our way to Denver.

Annabelle may be a tough old girl, but even she still needs some rehabilitation from time to time. We noticed about an hour into the trip that part of the plastic window on the bus door had become detached, so we pulled Annabelle over and bandaged her wounds. You will never hear Once a Hero say, "Duct tape can't fix that."

This is western Kansas. It pretty much looks like this almost all the way to Denver. The only oasis in the plains seemed to be this town that boasted the world's largest prairie dog, as advertised on road signs for nearly a hundred miles beforehand. We made a special point to fill up for gas here so we could check it out, but the prairie dog museum was closed. Life has its disappointments.

We rolled into Denver and stopped at Adam's aunt's house for some delicious frozen pizzas before heading over to No Excuses. If you remember from last year's tour, the venue in Denver where we were supposed to have played our show had shut down the week before we got there. No Excuses was kind enough to let us jump on the bill at the last minute, so we were excited to see Jeff, the owner, and play there again. The band in the picture above is Misplaced, a sweet punk band from Denver. Their music wasn't the typical pop punk we're used to hearing so often, and we enjoyed their set.

We were the only other band playing, so, as logic would follow, we played next. There was plenty of room to move around on stage, and we put on a good show for those who were there. There were fog machines onstage, which we've never exactly played with before. We had to ask them to turn them off because we thought they were a little strange for our type of music. Tomorrow we'll spend a little time in the Denver area before heading off to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later, alligator.
