The Bottlerocket
Toledo, Ohio

Bands: Once a Hero, Fling 10, Bad Andy, Bent, the Korovas.

When Once a Hero thinks of Toledo, we think of Wafflehouse. Not the band (they are spelled with an asterisk at the end) but the restaurant. For some reason, Michigan doesn't have a Wafflehouse anywhere to be found in Southeastern Michigan. Or at least no where we have found on our travels throughout the area. That is why when our shows in Toledo wrap up, we always head down to the "House" for delicious, cheap eats to the tune of "Scattered All the Way" and other rockin' Wafflehouse tunes.

But back to the show. Chris at the Bottlerocket always treats us well when we come down to Toledo and this was no exception. Bad Andy and Bent started the night off with solid pop punk straight outta Toledo. Many crowd members were moshing along to the solid beats the gentlemen laid down. We went on third and rocked out. We played a really good set and the crowd seemed to really get into it. It's always great to see kids in the crowd moving along to the music. We try to put as much energy into the shows as possible and, although the Bottlerocket's stage is a bit small, we utilized the space to its capacity.

Fling 10 came on fourth and played a strong set of energetic punk rock that had attracted the likes of scouts from Doghouse Records and the Militia Group. Good luck to Fling 10; hope one of those labels picks you up and helps you out. Last up was the Korovas with some good old school garage punk with the all powerful female bass player. People were dancing and singing along as the band pounded around onstage. As usual we headed out to the Wafflehouse afterwards where we met up with Chris and others to enjoy our delicious meals among the Toledo locals.
