The U-Club
Ann Arbor, Michigan

Bands: Once a Hero, Hope for August, South Bay Bessie.

A restaurant by day, The U-Club in the Michigan Union turns into a venue at night, putting on anything from a cappella concerts, to sketch comedy troupes, to, well, rock shows. This is the first time we've played here, and we'll be playing here once more this semester.

Hope for August kicked things off. We play with them alot in Lansing and at Maggie's in Concord, so we wanted to bring them to our hometown to rock out with us. They delivered a great set as always, and made sure that "New York" kept playing in your head all night, whether you wanted it to or not. Doug has decided that a club-techno remix needs to be made of that song. After Hope for August, South Bay Bessie took the stage. Their showmanship is incredible. They drop all the BS and just have a great time, and it shows. Their songs are very enganging and fun to listen to. South Bay Bessie is guarenteed to give you a good time.

We played last and put on a fairly decent show for our regular Ann Arbor fans and also some new faces we haven't seen before. All in all, we were pleased with the way our first show at the U-club went off, and we're looking forward to the 2nd one with Dot. and The Chiodos Bros. Loading in and out was a hassle though. We could only get our cars so close to the building, and we had to move our gear up and down stairs. Oh well, nothing's perfect. Take it easy, everyone.
