The Blind Pig
Ann Arbor, Michigan

Bands: Once a Hero, The Farewell Drive, Charlevoix, and Kid Brother Collective.

Note: Due to condensation forming on the digital camera, (damn you cold Michigan winters!) we have no pictures of this show. Apologies for the lameosity.

Every time we play at the Blind Pig, we always end up reading the stories on the walls about how Nirvana and Pearl Jam played there before they got big. I'm sure that the lineup on that freezing Thursday night included at least one band that would eventually join these ranks (fingers crossed). Speaking of which, what a night! We had the pleasure of playing with some of the best bands that Michigan has to offer.

The Fairwell Drive from Ann Arbor kicked things off. They are a quality rock and roll band and I suggest anyone reading this to check them out next time they're in your town. Two of the guys in the band (more maybe?) work at the coffee shop on South U. and East U. in Ann Arbor, so if you're ever in need of some warm refreshments served by some rockers, you now know where to go.

Next up was Charlevoix, a badass technical indie rock three-piece from East Lansing. If you've seen the bands Small Brown Bike (a few years back) and Lovesick (before they broke up), then you may have caught two of the current members of this band. They're on the verge of releasing their first full length and from what I've heard, it sounds ridiculously good. Luckily, we got to play with them before they get huge.

Kid Brother Collective is undoubtedly one of our favorite bands. Flint, Michigan represent! It's always a pleasure to play with these guys and there is no shortage of laughs or rock when they're around. Go buy their full length, Highway Miles. It's amazing. Get it. And if you see them, tell them that Once a Hero says "Yo!"

We brought up the rear (although Alex's is non-existant) and rocked to a great crowd of friends and fans. Our energy was on point and we ended with the usual pile of instruments and our sweaty rhythm section. For most, it was everyone's first chance to hear our newest song, "Losing the War." A bit heavier (not to mention longer) than our other material, but I think most people dug it. Shout out to Adam Freeman (our summer tour roadie) who said it was "Dude, fucking amazing!" Thanks bro.

All in all a quality night. After the show, we laughed it up with KBC about touring and the Millenium Club next door. It's this dance club and people get paid to dance in the window to attract customers. Nate from KBC and Alex and Adam were dancing as best they could. Hopefully offers for employment will be rolling in soon. Oh, and one of the girls pulled her pants down to reveal a thong. Those things are pretty popular now, we assume. As the chilly rain changed to snow, we thanked our lucky stars that we were a part of one of the better indie rock shows to come to Ann Arbor since Nirvana was still indie.
