Bands: Once a Hero, Love Heals in a God Considered Day, The English System, The Chiodos Bros.

When we were on the road last summer, we thought one of the greatest parts of tour was getting to hang out with cool people and bands from all over the country. We like to reciprocate that here by hosting bands and playing with them when they're on tour. This weekend we were fortunate enough to play a show with The English System from Philadelphia. We were first out of four bands, and we played a decent show to a decent crowd. The English System followed us, putting on a solid performance- indie rock with female vocals- who could complain?

Third was a band from Belleville called- and I think I got this right- Love Heals in a God Considered Day. We're not even going to take a stab at what that means, but we'd settle for the story of how they came up with it. After all, what does Once a Hero mean? We've tried to tackle that one before. Anyways, they were a pretty solid hardcore band. One of the members, Hunter, insisted that they weren't hardcore, but we didn't know what else to call it.

The Chiodos Bros. finished up the evening with yet another well done show. These guys apparently don't stop playing shows. They barely arrived in time to play because they had just finished playing a show in Kalamazoo, and word has it they played three more shows the very same weekend up north. While two or three shows is plenty for us in a weekend, we wish them good luck and vitamin C with such a rigorous schedule.

After the show, Jon and Doug hung out with the English system at their apartment and shared pizza and pop/soda/coke over conversation. They all apparently have full-time jobs in Philly but took a couple weeks off to tour the eastern half of the country. The next day they travelled to Columbus, Ohio for their final show, and then hauled ass back to Philly in time for work on Monday. That's the way life is sometimes. Thanks for hanging out with us, and we hope you guys had a good tour and got back safely. Keep in touch! And to the rest of you, we'll see you at the Blind Pig in about a week.
