Bands: Once a Hero, What's the Point?, Asking Autumn, Counterfit.

The guys up on stage in the picture playing to a packed house are Counterfit from San Diego, on Negative Progression Records. They put on one of the greatest shows we've ever been blessed to be a part of, but we'll get to them in a minute. Logically, you have to start with the opening band: us. We didn't expect to play first, but that's the way it goes. On a side note, we performed "Losing the War" for the first time. It wasn't bad, but it'll improve. This show really wasn't about us, though, so let's move on.

What's the Point? played right after us. It's always fun to hang out with these guys when we've played with them in the past. They used to be a straight up punk band, at least the first time we played together. The second time, there was a definate mix of indie/post-punk in them. Now, it seem's that they've all but lost most of their punk influence, and now it's mostly indie/post-punk, with just a hint of punk leftover. They're still really tight, and Elliot has a great voice.

A band we've never played with played after What's the Point? and right before Counterfit- Asking Autumn. They were really solid post-punk/indie (kinda like all the other bands that night) but definately had their own flavor. They had some good energy and presence going, so we hope to meet up with them again in the future.

Finally, the reason for the entire occasion, Counterfit, took to the stage. If you haven't seen this band, or at least heard their CD, part of your life is not complete. Their tour is winding down, but make sure you check them out the next time they come through your neck of the woods. They have a fantastic blend of interesting song-writing that makes use of some interesting rhythmn ideas and a great stage presence with tons of energy that engages the crowd, yet doesn't compromise their precision of musical performance. It was great to see so many people singing along and supporting this band. We thought the night couldn't get any better, when someone suggested to go to Waffle House after the show. Going to Waffle House after a Toledo show should be a tradition. Thanks, Counterfit, for letting us be part of your tour. Good luck in the future!
