The Flint Local 432
Flint, Michigan

Bands: Once a Hero, Dot., Simply Me, Ridic, Capone

This show had to be one of the coolest things that the Local has ever pulled off. Recently, financial troubles (read: lack of attendance at shows) has put the Flint Local 432 in a position of possibly having to shut down. This entire weekend consisted of shows to benefit the Local to keep it from closing down. It was a wonderful thing to see how the community came together to keep the Local alive. Local news channels, mainstream radio, other entertainment establishments in the city, and a huge group of volunteers made sure that everyone knew about the situation. There was quite a turnout, many generous donations were made, and the Local was pleased to announce that they won't be closing. So let that be a lesson- support your local music scene. Here is just a small sampling of the hundreds of people who made it out.

There were six bands who played that night. They all did a fantastic job. Because we don't want this page to drone on forever (and because we didn't get enough pictures,) we'll just throw in one of Dot., cuz those guys are just that cool. So here ya go:

We played fourth, I believe. Our set was interrupted by several problems, but we made it through. Doug's string actually broke while TUNING, so he had to start the show with a backup guitar. Then, he broke another string on the 2nd song. It's the only time that he's ever broken two strings back to back at a show. Something was very strangely off about that show; it was almost like someone did voodoo to our set. And if you're out there, we'll find you! ...Or something.

The rest of the show went somewhat better, and people instisted that it wasn't bad, so maybe things just sounded different to us up there. That's the way it works sometimes. Either way, we're glad that we were there to be a part of the Local's night to shine. To all who made it a successful weekend, you rock. See you all when we come back in November!
