Caffe Latte
East Lansing, Michigan

Bands: Once a Hero and Dot.

Part III of the Once a Hero/Dot. fall 2002 minitour of lower Michigan: Café Latte in E. Lansing. This cozy place sits just one block off of Grand River, the main strip of restaurants, bars, and other such businesses catering to students, with the MSU campus right across the street. As you can see in the picture above, it's a popular place to hang out, have a drink, and catch some music. I suppose you're allowed to study as well, but I wonder why you'd do that on a Saturday night. Ask the person in the lower right-hand corner.

We were first to play. We generally don't like to say we played a great show or a bad show, but we'll make an exception here to say that it's one of the best ones we've ever done. We're not sure if it's that we took extra time to do a REALLY good soundcheck, or perhaps the amazing acoustics in the room provided us with a natural, yet incredible monitor so we could hear ourselves well. But either way. It was a fun show. (Isn't it always?)

Considering that we and Dot. were the only 2 bands playing, it doesn't take a class in logic at U of M (or even MSU for that matter) to deduce that Dot. played after us. Those of you who regularly read about each of our shows are probably tired of us praising Dot., but we'll say it again. They're good. So go see them. Werd.

Hey kids! Say hi to Melissa and Jessica. ("Hi, Melissa and Jessica!") We'd like to welcome the newest and first 2 members of the Once a Hero street team. We're looking forward to working with them to help us spread the word around the Lansing area. We're still looking for a few good men and women to help us out everywhere we regularly play. So, if you're interested, you too can be part of our street team (and get free stuff and free admission to shows.)

One of our new fans, Karen, was apparently so inspired that she drew us this lovely piece of artwork. We love stuff like this! It just makes us tingle all over. Or something. But seriously, thanks Karen, you rule! Also, we'd like to note that often, people will ask us what our name means, or in what sense our name takes context. Like, "Once a Hero... but not a hero anymore?" Or, "Once a Hero, always a hero?" It's up to you to decide. Karen obviously has made her decision. If you think you know what our name means, we're dying to hear from you. I mean, we'd sure like to know! Take it easy everyone, and we'll see ya soon.
