Rick's Bar
Ann Arbor, Michigan "Battle of The Bands"

Bands: Presido, Creature Beach, Oblivion, and Donkey Punch

The show at Rick's was definitely a memorable one and a good chance for the band to check out and meet other local Ann Arbor bands. We were selected out about 15 to 20 other bands that entered to play with Presido, Creature Beach, Oblivion and Donkey Punch, to raise money for The March Of Dimes
The show got started an hour late but Oblivion still managed to put on a great first set. We even had a vintage 80's moment with a harmonizing guitar solo by their two guitarists. After Oblivion we were treated to an Ann Arbor anomaly known as creature beach. I'm not even sure how to describe their funk, rap style (though it was pretty kick ass) but I do know that their lead singer looked alot like Slash From GNR. After CB, We finally got to take the stage and play our set.
We played decent although their was a sound problem and my guitar wasn't put up high enough in the mix so people had trouble hearing my parts. Besides that, everything went pretty good and we had a good time.

Following our set, Presidio get onstage and played and absolutely killer set. I'd say they had 20 to 40 people there that had came solely to see them play. It was a great set and everybody pretty much assumed that they would win hands down. If you haven't seen Presidio play, check them out as soon as possible.
After Presidio, Donkey Punch went on and finished up the night. I guess that DP used to be a Ska band but now they kind of shifted gears and are playing what I think they call "Horn-core". Basically, they just take out the ska beats and just play straight power chord rhythms with the horn section taking the lead. In all they had a pretty good set.
When the show ended the judges got together and picked the winners. Despite Presidio's stellar performance, Donkey Punch won the B.O.B and got the free studio time that 40 oz. Studios in Ann Arbor was offering up to the winner.
